I woke up this morning and I could see up the street.  Itt was night.  I could see without my glasses further than a car length.  Its always magical that first moment you realize that you can do something you haven’t been able to do for so long.  That is how it felt the first day I put on my first pair of fresh contacts.

Afternoon.

So,

I had my follow up doctors appt.  GOT THE CONTACTS OUT!  and.. now i can’t see close up again.  Aparently now my eyes have to get adjusted to not having a cornea .. because the contact bandages were like cornes..  The good news is that 80% of my cornea has grown back so I should be fine.

I HAVE TO PUT OINTMENT IN MY EYES. dunno how I feel about that.. I will tell you tomorrow..

Also,  I am typing this.. and can barely see it.. sorry if this seems alittle shattered.

So.

I attempted to go to work today.  Craig drove me to work everything seemed normal.  I took my sunglasses to ward off any light that may try to hurt my eyes.  My eyes haven’t really changed much since yesterday.  I can use an old pair of glasses to help with some of the ghosting but at night it sucks.

I drove myself home last night.  BIG BIG BIG mistake.  The amount of ghosting and halos was unbearable.  I was able to see but I was scared off my ass.  Luckily I have awesome co workers.  I called the office and a co worker who lives near me brought my work home for me.

I still don’t have alot of pain.. and there is some mild itching.  I get a few aches in my left eye but not much at all.  The annoyance is that my eyes aren’t clearing up at the same time.  One eye is clearer than the other so it pisses me off.

So, its been 4 days since I had my eyes buffed, lasered, and bandaged with a contact.  My vision is almost back.  I can see my computer on a font of 28 which is an improvement from 32.  If I put on a pair of my older glasses they seem to help a little but not much.  The double vision isnt as bad although I have yet to step outside. I haven’t really experienced any terrible itching of the eyes.  I also haven’t had a migraine in awhile.  I don’t know if its the percs or if its the fact that maybe the shape of my eye had something to do with it.

So.. I survived another day. ..

I have learned that my eyes dry out a lot.  The natural tear drops is a total must at this point.  The prednisone drops taste NASTY.  Yes, you can taste what you put in your eyes due to drains in your face.  The doctor was wrong about day 3 being the worst.  I dunno maybe because I put the natural tears in more often than as prescribed or I am not a wuss compared to some of the other patients .  I found day 2 to be worse because I actually had to use the pain drops ( that is only recommended if you actually are in pain and not just to be using them) maybe twice.  I did pop a perc yesterday but that was to prevent some eye strain pain i was experiencing while writing a report.  I have been fighting that feeling that something is in my eye and try to start digging anything out.  I also have to remind myself that there is a contact ( bandage contact) in my eye.  I hardly feel it so it must be smaller than the normal kind.

I woke up today seeing a lot better.  I can’t see far as of yet.  But I am able to read my computer monitor without too many problems.  Which is good because I have to work.  I really didn’t want this procedure to interfere with my job.  I love my job but I want to see without glasses and hopefully correct the migraines I have been getting.  My eyes get tired pretty quickly.  I have these natural tear drops that I am told to use every 2 hrs .. however I put them in every half an hr or so because I am pushing myself to work. The doc’s say day 3 is supposedly the worst day of it all.  The eye numbing drops that was used is fully worn off and you start to feel the total pain.  We shall see.

Woke up this morning and everything seemed fine.  Things were still blurry but not the  kind blurry compared to what I am use too without my glasses. I have to close my eyes when typing for long periods of time.  I have also increased the font to 16 on my screen. heh.  The burning feeling has started.  I drop some fake tears into my eyes and it usually makes it better.  The eye that had the stigma seems to be healing better than the other eye which is weird.  Typing with my eyes closed is also actually weird.  Good thing I paid attention to that class.

Yestday I had PRK done to my eyes.   Its like Lasiks.. but instead of getting the flap you get a bit of cornea brushed away, lazered, and bandage contacts are replaced. The procedure didn’t hurt -at all-.  NO PAIN.  There was a bit of pressure and tingling but no pain.   Dr Wills was a very nice doc.  He even called me a few hours later to check and make sure I was alright.   PRK has a very long recovery time but the results are usually spectacular.

RX:

1. Sleeping pills
2. Percs
3. Steroid
4. fake tears
5. Prednazone
6. Pain killer drops.

My feelings directly after the surgury? WOW everything is fucking bright! and blurry.  You are advised to sleep after the surgery to promtoe healing.  I slept on the car right home.

<EDIT>  I was asking why PRK instead of Lasiks.  The doctor was not conformable performing Lasiks ( eye flap) surgery on me.  He said that my astigmatism was shaped in a way that it could cause my cornea to drop.  So he gave me this option and I took it.
